The Pound House
The Pound House is a delightful cottage that once formed part of a Grade II Listed Manor House. It is steeped in history and used to billet Royalist Troops during the English Civil War. The cottage itself is believed to have been a barn used for cider pressing, some three hundred years ago and has been lovingly refurbished by us to provide modern
holiday accommodation.
Location
The Pound House is situated in Modbury, a small market town nestled between ‘the moors and the sea’ in beautiful South Devon. Modbury boasts spectacular views, walks and scenery all year round, and is just a short drive from the coast. The town centre with its independent shops and cafes is just short walk from the Pound House. The location provides access to a variety of outdoor activities including walking, cycling, golf, paddleboarding and surfing.

The region is an area of outstanding natural beauty with plenty of great places just a short drive from the Pound House. These include some of the best beaches in the UK such at Bigbury, Bantham and Hope Cove. Other attractions within easy reach are, the lively harbour town of Salcombe, the Avon estuary with its tidal road and the maritime heritage city of Plymouth. To the North the wonderful scenery of Dartmoor National Park is within easy reach.
